| Oxen are not special kinds or breeds of animals. They are cattle who have been trained to do farm work. Their farm work includes pulling wagons, carts, sleds, plows, logs, stones. They also do various kinds of heavy farm work such as pulling out stumps in the field or large rocks from creeks. Usually they are castrated males (called “steers”), but sometimes female cattle (cows) are used. |
